The German Dressage Championships in Balve came to an end today and the results are in.

Helen Langehanenberg, a Cavallis clinician & friend, and her Oldenburg mare Responsible (Resi) kicked butt playing with the big guns like Isabell Werth and Hubertus Schmidt, just to name a few.

In the end she placed 6th in the female division and 7th overall, 6 points before Hubertus Schmidt and his Olympic mount, Wansuela Suerte.  The riders in front of her are the current top German Olympic contenders for Hong Kong 2008 but she gave them a run for their money when she placed ahead of Isabell and her top horse Warum Nicht FRH as well as Nadine Capellmann and Elvis in the Kuer to music... I think she will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come and hopefully we will see her on the roster for the Olympic Games 2012 in London.

Way to go Helen!! Congratulations!!

Helen Langehanenberg on Responsible.

Nadine Capellmann on her horse Elvis, nice hindleg...

Helen was coached by no other than Klaus Balkenhol himself. Her regular trainer is Ingrid Klimke, the daughter of legendary Reiner Klimke.

Isabell Werth and Warum Nicht FRH. Cute face.

Monica Theodoresco on Ann Kathrin Linsenhoffs horse Whisper. Ann Kathrin retired from the sport a year ago.

Dieter Laugks and Meggle's Weltall. That seat must have been copied out of the text book - look at those hands and heels...does it get more perfect?

Matthias Rath is Ann Kathrin Linsenhoffs step son and is now very successful with her fromer competition horse, Sterntaler UNICEF.

Hubertus Schmidt during warm-up on Franziskus.

Alexandra Simons-De Ridder on Wellington

A job well done. Congratulations Helen!!

The official signing and celebration for Hungaro & Susan's new life together :0)

May 27, 2008

We visited Mio at his 5 star rehab facility, Pegasus.  We are not quite sure if he really wants to come back and live with us, after having experienced a completely different level of pampering and comfort.

May 25, 2008

Well, it was a sunny day during the L'Aperitif show at Bridle State Park and Sandra, Carsten and Juli were there to coach us.

Laurie and Livi showed at Second Level for the first time and received a NW championships qualifying score.

Sandi showed both of her boys, Drambuie and Flamenco at Training Level Test 4. They needed a little more time to get used to the judges booth and get to settled but the judge seemed kind of in a hurry. In the end,  Drambuie was a little too nervous and looky but it was his very first time out this season and he just needs more show mileage. Flamenco received 7th place in a huge class.

French Kiss received 2nd place with 70% for his First Level - Test 1. Siggi got a little too greedy in the first trot lengthening, which translated into a mistake and cost them the win, but this did not stop Frenchi to rise up to the occasion once more and help Siggi to a 1st place in the Dressage Seat Equitation class.

He is such a great sport.

Willie and Jesse schooled at the show for the first time, as their show debut is just around the corner and Willie needs to get used to all the commotion.

Santero did not get to show his fancy self off this time around because on our way to the warm up ring, he cut himself on the heel bulb with a super-sharp rock.  He was very sore and tender with the sand of the arena footing pushing right up into the cut, so we ended up scratching both his classes and went home for soaking and poultice treatment instead.

All in all, it was a fun show and we wanted to thank all our friends and family members, who came out to support us in such great numbers this time around.  Thank you.

May 20, 2008

It's official, Susan found her perfect match - the 7 year old Andalusian stallion Hungaro.  He is such a cutie and we are very excited to be welcoming Susan and Hungaro in training at Cavallis once everything is set and done.

Congratulations!!!

Cologne, Germany

You girls rock!!!

How are we supposed to keep up with you??? I am already looking forward to see you all during the L'Aperitif  show while I am in Seattle.

While you were out collecting all those blue ribbons, I had a very interesting visitor at our German barn.

What happened to our well trained working students Siggi?

.

Siggi, can you hand me my boots and helmet?

May 2008

Devonwood, Oregon

Laurie's impression of the show so far, "Devonwood is a venue that has to be experienced!  Even though the weather has been a bit cold and windy we have had a fabulous weekend. The time we have spent together and the camaraderie of team Cavallis has been exceptional.  We are so................proud of our ponies."

This was Frenchi's first show ever - such a naturally born superstar!!

FYI: He could be your potential perfect match as he is currently for sale at our US facility.

Kristin & Iceman

Iceman unfortunately stepped on a sharp rock during Fridays lunging session and came up very sore and tender footed. He was treated for a stone bruise Friday and Saturday morning and thanks to all the good care, Kristin was able to show him 2-4 Saturday afternoon. It was a good test in the 60-s but he was a little tense at times due to the unfamiliar facility, so we schooled him again in the evening to make him more comfortable with his surroundings and are hoping that today will be the day to make him sparkle and shine - we will keep you updated.

May 3, 2008

Laurie/Livi & Siggi/Frenchi were first up this morning and rode in the same class, First Level Test 1. The class was rather large with close to 20 competitors.  This was the first show EVER for French Kiss and resulted in a rocking performance that was rewarded with a 74.3% and 1st place of the overall class as well as in the Open division.  The second place was taken by another Pro with 65% (an almost 10% lead for Frenchi :0) - We are soooo... proud!!

Right after that second place, came Laurie & Livi, who placed 3rd in the same big class with a 64.6% but since they were the best Adult Amateur rider - they received 1st place in that division and a blue ribbon!

The judging was tough, the scores in that class ranged from 74.3% all the way down to 46%. Most of the 20 rides were actually in the 50-s and high 40-s - so we are super proud of the boys!!

May 2, 2008

Day Two at the Idaho Horse Park. The boys very good in their schooling sessions and are ready to rumble.

.

Kristin holding on to the horse for dear life...

May 1, 2008

Kristin/Iceman, Laurie/Livingston and Siggi/French Kiss on their way to Idaho. We arrived 6 pm last night after an fun road trip. The ponies were superstars - we stopped several times along the way but they were enjoying the trip and scenery as much as we did.

.

April 29, 2008

Lisa Holland and her son Alex found their Eduard, a 12 year old German Warmblood last week with the help of their trainer JJ of Mercer Island. Eduard passed his vet check last Thursday and Alex and he are now in training with Cavallis to further their dressage ambitions. Very cute horse - congratulations!!

April 25, 2008

Lots of good news from "our" ponies and their recent successes in the show ring with their new moms.

FS Tiger Lily aka Finest Selection (Fuerst Picolo x Donnerhall)

Last September, Meg W. bought this spectacular mare with us in Germany after the approval of Hubertus Schmidt himself, who was one of Meg's chosen test riders.

At the Wellington Spring Challenge, FS Tiger Lily and her trainer Silva won the T-2 class with 73.04%, and last weekend won at Training Level with 77%. They will compete in FEI Five-year-old horses for the first time this coming weekend. Last year, they won the championships for four-year-old horses at the prestigious Dressage at Devon, and Silva plans to take FS Tiger Lily to the CDI Raleigh with hopes of qualifying her for the World Breeders Young Horse Championships in Verden (Germany) later this summer.

We are so excited for you! Congratulations.

Laudino (Laudabilis x Lancer II)

Lorraine N. snatched up this incredible youngster with us in Seattle only last month. They had their first show outing at Intro Level at the WEC schooling show and received a whopping 73% and lots of great comments from judge and onlookers alike. Way to go!!

Laudatio by Laudabilis

Kecia S. found her Laudatio on a Germany shopping trip with us in March 2007. We celebrated his fourth birthday as well his show debut at San Sebastian earlier this month. The result: instant superstardom, T-2 with 68.9% and T-4 with 65.6%. Devonwood here they come!!

April 19, 2008

The ladies rocked it at today's Gold Creek schooling show. They are getting ready for the Idaho Dressage Festival and Devonwood in the beginning of May.

Sandi & Flamenco placed 2nd at T-2 and 3rd at T-4 with a 64%.

Laurie & Livingston placed 3rd in their 1-1 class and 2nd in their 1-4 class with scores in the 60s.

Kristin & Iceman placed 1st in their 2-3 class and 2nd in their 2-4 class. Look at that ever developing medium trot :0)

April 15, 2008

The Raphael Heiligers clinic was an intensive four day bootcamp but we all learned so much, while our horses are recovering from sore muscles that they never thought they had...
